The renovation of the Bouddhanath monastery that was damaged by last year's earthquake is complete. Thirteen steps above the dome were reconstructed and the dome is renovated. The wall around the prayer wheels was also repaired. Bouddhanath Area Development Committee had initiated the renovation of the monastery without any government aid on May 22, 2015. According to the committee, around 230 million was collected for the renovation from various donor agencies and individuals from various walks of life, and that the entire renovation completed without any government money. The Monastery will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on November 22 after a Devataran Diwas, a ritual observed as per Buddhist tradition. |
